How Does It Work?
The concept is simple:
- Members commit to donate $100 each quarter to a selected non-profit each quarter
- Members nominate local non-profits prior to the meeting
- Three non-profits are selected to present at each quarterly meeting
- Each non-profit is provided eight minutes to share with the group about their organization and three minutes to answer questions from members
- A secret ballot vote determines which of the three local non-profits receive donations
- Donations are made directly to the non-profit
- No overhead exists and every dollar contributed benefits the non-profit
- Donations can be made using our preferred payment platform grapevine.org or by check.
- Non-profits agree not to solicit our individual members
How Are Non-Profits Selected?
Members of 100 Men Who Care - Jacksonville nominate local non-profit organizations to be considered at the next quarterly meeting. Three non-profit organizations are randomly chosen from the pool of nominees. The three organizations are then qualified and invited to present at the next quarterly meeting.

Who is eligible for membership?
Any man who desires to support local non-profits in Jacksonville and who is willing to commit to meeting quarterly for about an hour and to donate $100 per quarter ($400 annually).
Which organizations are eligible for donations?
To be considered for a donation from 100 Men Who Care - Jacksonville, the organization must be a certified 501(c)(3) serving the Jacksonville area. Being a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit means the organization has been approved by the IRS as a tax-exempt nonprofit whose purpose is to benefit the general public through philanthropic goals that aim to improve the quality of life for the community and beyond.
Are faith-based organizations eligible to receive donations?
Organizations who meet the 501(c)(3) requirements based on their “religious” purpose will not be eligible for consideration. 501(c)(3) religious organizations include churches, conventions, church associations, church auxiliaries, nondenominational ministries, interdenominational and ecumenical organizations, and other entities whose principal purpose is the study or advancement of religion.
Are there any exceptions to the faith-based organizations limitation?
Yes, at the discretion of the Board, we may choose to invite a non-profit to present to our members if the nonprofit is supported by a religious group but offers services to people of all religions. (For example, a faith-based organization which runs a women’s shelter that accepts women of all faiths.)
Which organizations are NOT Eligible?
501(c)(3) organizations whose purpose is any of the following are NOT ELIGIBLE: non-secular activities, religious doctrine promotion, political or partisan groups/activities, academic or medical research, scholarships, private foundations, school sports/club/band, endowment funds, general or annual fundraising campaigns or events, pass-through fundraising, or payment of debt or legal settlements.
What is a member disagrees with the mission of the chosen non-profit?
We value the diversity of our membership and respect the opinions of each individual member. If an individual member does not wish to support the chosen charity, we encourage them to donate to one of the other presenting charities instead.
How do I make a donation?
Donations are made directly to the winning organization and can be made by using our preferred payment platform, Grapevine, or can be made by check payable directly to the nonprofit.
Is my contribution tax deductible? How do I get my tax receipt?
Yes, your contribution is eligible for a tax deduction, and we will email you a payment receipt. If you use Grapevine, you will be provided an annual statement of your giving for tax purposes.
How do I vote if I cannot attend the meeting?
In order to vote, you must be present at the meeting (in person or online) and must remain current in your quarterly contributions. If you cannot attend, you will receive an email after the conclusion of the meeting notifying you of the meeting details and directions on how to submit your quarterly donation if you haven't already done so. Proxy and absentee voting is not supported.
How long do meetings last?
Meetings last about an hour.
How do I discontinue my membership?
If you choose not to participate in 100 Men Who Care - Jacksonville, please let us know and we will remove your contact information from our database. You may rejoin at any time by completing another membership form. To remain an active member, you must stay current with your quarterly donations.
May my employer match my contributions?
Absolutely! In many cases, employers (or other businesses with whom you may be affiliated) may match contributions dollar for dollar. Contact your employer to see if they have a Matching Gift Program and then let us know how to participate.
May I bring a friend to the meeting who has not signed up?
Of course! We welcome anyone to sit in on a meeting and find out more about 100 Men Who Care - Jacksonville. In order to vote, they will need to complete a membership form prior to the start of the meeting and make their donation.
